PETALING JAYA: Generous Malaysians should not let hard times damper their spirits to help others in need, says Star Media Group chairman Datuk Fu Ah Kiow.
“It is something we must cherish and as the people’s paper, we must put our actions into words and do whatever we can to alleviate problems faced by others,” he said.
Fu said the Star Foundation would continue to help those in need, despite hard economic conditions.
“It is a straining time for all businesses, but we will continue to do this as it is something we cherish very much,” he added.
Speaking at the Star Foundation mock cheque presentation on Friday, Fu said Malaysians are always ready to help anyone in need, irrespective of race, a value of which the Star Media Group equally holds.
He said since it was set up in 2004, the foundation has disbursed RM10mil, which went into helping 239 organisations and benefited about 1,000 people.
This time around, the foundation disbursed a total of RM356,000 to 11 organisations to help them with their monthly expenses and run their programmes.
“We hope that organisations will make full use of the funds to help those in need,” he said.
The organisations are:
1.Pertubuhan Perkhidmatan Intervensi Awal
2.Persatuan Kebajikan Sri Eden
